Description

Sree Nhangattiri Bhagavathy Temple is one of the oldest Durga Devi temples in the Valluvanad region of Malabar. It is also one of the few temples where the Devi faces the West. The temple also has a large sacrificial altar or “balippura”, which however does not represent an obstacle for Darshan from the outside.

Festivals:
Nirmala, The temple festival is celebrated in the Malayalam month of Kumbam (February/March). Rohini in Kumbam is believed to be the day on which the idol was installed. The festival flag is hoisted in the evening of that day. The festival lasts eight days. The temple celebrates its annual Niramala festival on Karthika asterism in the Malayalam month of Meenam.
